Puddles of Puppies

Hi!  Sorry to bore you with these but I could not resist now that the pups are one week old and huge!!

We are so proud and pleased with this litter!  As usual we make the best boys, and they really do stand out.  But the girls are also gorgeous and my resolve to look and love but not get involved is weakening.

However by the time they have eaten me out of house and home and wrecked the garden I may feel differently?

May is glorious as ever and there is just so much going on around the place!  A Jenny Wren who moved into the puppy house before it was thus occupied has raised and fledged her family, moving on – wise idea!

Nine Reasons to Smile

Ok folks, here are nine reasons to smile!

Tweed pups DOB17.5.17 027

Born 17.5.17.  5 boys and 4 girls.  Mummy is SO SO proud!

This is Tweed’s (mum) second litter.  She has remembered how to be the very best mum.

Leading up to this I confess resorting to my nervous habit of hat knitting.

As a variation I have decided to try socks instead, we shall see how that goes.

Till next time!!

On Potting Puppies

Yesterday was gorgeous.  The puppies are depleted in number and there are now 6 still here, but it looks like they are all spoken for now.  This makes me sad as I have come to know these little personalities and they are all gorgeous little people.  But also, I am happy as they are all due to go to lovely homes where they will all be loved, which is what I want most for them.  Collectively they are very different to how they will be individually, and their characters and confidence here grow every day.  They are learning all the time and all experimenting together.  They play with their big sister who is their best friend!  I think she will miss them.

She lets them win

She finds the same things interesting

Some puppies have been busy potting other puppies

It takes a lot of sorting out to get this potting business just right

I am sure I fitted in this yesterday?

Endless funny incidents and then that gorgeous deep floppy sleep!

Not Guilty

Besides having a very intermittent internet at the moment our appliances are mostly all poorly.  Today a long awaited visit from a washing machine repair man happened.  The company do not give a specific time to expect their engineer, instead giving a broad scope of about 6 hours during which time he will call.

So, I let the puppies out as usual and walked the dogs and fed everyone etc etc.  All clean and tidy and ready to start again.  I let out the puppies and THE MAN arrived.  Fortunately THE MAN likes dogs and has a sense of humor (essential).  He stood by the barn helpless with laughter as I tried to catch 44 puppies!!  9 pups turn into 44 whenever you want them in one place I have discovered!

Finally everyone in the kitchen.  THE MAN went about his work in the barn without help.  After a while I thought it was very quiet in the kitchen and decided to check on the pups.  Rearrangement extraordinaire!!  BUT you understand it was none of these…..

Parties

I started this post yesterday with the words ‘yesterday’!!  BUT the internet went down and then today we had a major long power cut and that, quite frankly, was that!!

Image

So now we have to try again and hope that this time things will happen in the right direction!

Sunday was cold but mainly dry.  This was a good thing because my youngest grandchild was 2!  Actually she was 2 on Friday but she was happy to be 2 again here with us!!  We had birthday cake which was yummy………..

Image

We had balloons and lots of fun.  BUT the BEST fun was the puppies who were extremely pleased that Freya was 2 too!!  They joined in the fun and games with tremendous and undying enthusiasm!

Image

The garden was full of children and puppies and lots of joyful noises.

After quite a while everyone was exhausted, especially the grown ups, who dont look cute so I did not take any pictures!

Puppy Power

Once upon a time, five weeks ago to be exact, 9 puppies were born in Somerset.  The wind was howling and the rain was lashing, but these brave puppies decided to broaden their horizons and view a bigger world.  They were all perfect and beautiful.  There were 6 girls and 3 boys.

Image

As time went on these puppies began to learn all sorts of things.  They opened their eyes and began to see the world and each other.  They learnt how to stand and then how to dance and bounce (well nearly).  They learnt that a certain sound produced a paddling pool which was fun.  And then they learnt that the paddling pool actually had great stuff in it for eating!  They learnt to fight and play and be terribly brave about scary things like long grass and feathers and imaginary hiding things!

Image

They were visited by all sorts of people (mainly the sort with high voices) and they learnt that squeaking voices meant that you were in for a cuddle if you werent careful.  Cuddles interrupt a perfectly busy day and although they are not too bad, it really proves inconvenient as its so hard to remember what you were so busy doing before being lifted to the sky and cooed over.

Image

Four of the 9 puppies were picked and booked.  Now there are 3 little boys (possibly only 2) (lalalalalalalala ….. did I just say that out loud??????).  3boys and 2 girls.  Now if you need organising then 2 of the boys are your man.  They show me every morning how to muck them out, where the food should go and how quickly it should go there.  And they always rearrange the bed as I am incapable of finding exactly the right spot on my own, ever!

Image

One of the boys is absolutely STUNNING.  He will make a good sized dog and is strong and intelligent and very very handsome.  The other boy is very very busy.  He has to do everything at a run and consequently has to catch up on sleep every now and then in order to keep the world running when he is up and about.  He is friendly and playful and very pretty.  The other boy (what other boy???) has picked me out and I am trying not to notice.  Somehow he always ends up with me.  From past experience boy dogs are loyal, extremely trainable, anxious to please, full of character and if you want a friend pick a dog every time!

Image

The girls.  Well these are both fine featured and will be absolutely gorgeous dogs, just like bitches should be.  They have fine bones and broken coats.  They are less bouncy and bossy than the other girls but form attachment easily.  These 2 will make very biddable dogs and will be easy to train, they are anxious to please.

Image

Training these dogs is rewarding as they are very biddable.  They love a good bounce and a good game but equally love to sleep for hours on end stretched out on their backs (the world is a much better place upside down!).
