Post show post

Wonderwool was fantastic!  So much space and such a friendly lovely bunch of people!  I was too busy to take pics which is a shame.

One of the highlights was lovely returning customers showing me the stunning things they had made with my yarns from last year!!  I am constantly in awe of how talented people are quietly crafting away somewhere producing these exquisite items.  I really wish I had been able to take pics of them.

There was a very happy atmosphere at the show and so much space for people to wander around in a relaxed or dazed frame of mind.  There are a few traders I visit every year before we open to get my Wonderwool fix from!  They did not disappoint!  I would list the list of thank yous to everyone but I just as well list the Wonderwool exhibitor list really!!  But the usual friends all get a huge grateful hug for helping me out when I was busy, letting me have loo breaks and plying me with coffee quietly when I was run off my feet!  You all know who you are and I love you all THANK YOU!

The B&B was fabulous!  The view from my bedroom window just perfect!  Thank you Tricia you were the perfect hostess, I am so glad I found you!

Meg helped on Saturday which was great and she took pics and promises a post soon!

She took these on my camera, but only these!

I am shattered and not sorted out yet, but I really enjoyed the show and look forward to Cumbria next!!

Busy Easter

This has been a gorgeous Easter!  Apart from Easter day when the rain fell earnestly, it has been gorgeous!  I have been very busy.  I had a long awaited clear out.  I had to clear out a lot of things which were still damp from the flooding.  I had to tidy up and sort things out.  One of my daughters helped me which is such a supportive thing to do!  Clearing out can be emotional and very tiring.  We worked all day and had an enormous bonfire which was very cleansing in an odd sort of way.

Image

The dogs decided that all this busyness was infectious and they decided to start improving the garden.  So they got together and decided that what the garden really needed was a pond.

Image

So they dug one.  This has the advantage of doubling up as a useful hole or a pond when it rains!!  Result!

Image

Then 2 of them thought they could plant something in the hole, but they could not decide which way up it should go.  This took some time and resulted in many little options!!  The ‘pond’ is now big enough to place the terrier in without being noticed.  Work in progress..

Image

I have been dying.  LOTS!!  Now I am trying to dry!  The cottage is FULL of wet wool in various forms!  The smell is not as good as the appearance!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at Wonderwool next weekend!

Growing

What a glorious day today!  Everything is growing and feeling good in the sunshine.  Time for a bit of a spring clean?

Image

The pups certainly thought so!  I arrived in the kitchen today and found a decapitated mop which had been dragged in and liberally spread around.  The mop obviously could not behave and so is now well and truly dead.  No more trouble from that mop!  The 2 pups I am boarding are growing so fast!  Where 9 fitted 9 weeks ago, not even 1 will fit now!

Image

Mum is resigned to having various bits chewed now!  Poor mum!  The boy (Sika) has grown his ears and feet at an alarming rate.

Image

He tries new arrangements with his ears every day.  How does this work?  Good look?

Image

Edna and Edith after a very long and loud debate decided that going broody in the red bucket is the only way to go this spring…

Image

No one else thinks this is a spring look

Image

We have a wild pheasant who heard that the dogs dont touch birds EVER, so she moved into our front border!!  There are 5 eggs under her!

Image

All this activity is just exhausting!!

Waking Up

Everything is waking up!  On our walk this morning we found various degrees in stages of waking up.

Image

Image

We found things to examine and smell

We saw new flowers opening to the day ahead

The sky was jam packed with so many songs it was quite hard to think.  So some of us had to retreat for dad and daughter time in the favoured reflecting spot to contemplate things in general and today in particular.

I have a bit of an obsession at the moment with Ivy.  The ideas which are forming are turning into a knitwear design, slowly.  I just love the way Ivy travels up and around its host.  Mostly it is not really noticed unless you look.  I like that.

I like the way a dandelion clock with dew still holds its form, just not fluffy.

Image

I think it is probably not cool to like Rape in a field.  I am not entirely sure why.  It is quite overpowering.  The smell is intense, however I prefer it to the muck spreading which has filled the air around the cottage for this past week.

Waking up is amazing!!

Goings

This has been a week of goings.  It has left me feeling a bit hollow inside.  We now have only 5 pups left and 3 of these go at the weekend.  I am glad as they all have lovely homes but sad as they have been such a big part of my life for this year.

Image

My son came home for a few short days.  It was fabulous to have him here and see him enjoy the pups in real life rather than just the photos.  But now he is gone too.  That always leaves me empty.

Dobby my best mate and house elf has been going to the vet this week, filling gaps in any time there may have been.  Stitches in his leg as an emergency on Sunday.  Back again on Tuesday to staple the wound because he decided to pull the stitches out!  Last night he pulled another out despite numerous layers of prevention measures.

I have now found that size 1 yr socks are fab.  If you snip the toe across, the heel can act as a joint cover without tightness and the wound is covered.  Sticky tape on the edges stops him pulling it off and the wound is covered but can still breathe.  Put a t-shirt (size medium woman) on on top (he has one pink and one stripey one), oh, and it has to have 3/4 length sleeves, and there he is covered…… we hope!!

Such an expensive dog!  So now he is sad and feeling blue next to me on the bed.
